धनतेरस के साथ कई पौराणिक कथाएं जुड़ी हैं। सबसे प्रमुख कथा समुद्र मंथन से जुड़ी है, जब भगवान धन्वंतरि अमृत कलश और औषधियों के साथ प्रकट हुए थे। इसलिए इस दिन को आरोग्य और धन की पूजा का दिन माना जाता है। एक अन्य कथा के अनुसार, राजा हिमा के पुत्र की अकाल मृत्यु को टालने के लिए उसकी पत्नी ने धनतेरस की रात को दीप जलाए, जिससे यमराज उस पर दया कर लौट गए। तभी से इस दिन को यमराज की पूजा का भी विशेष महत्व दिया जाता है।
धनतेरस के अनुष्ठान:
- धन प्राप्ति के लिए पूजा: इस दिन विशेष रूप से मां लक्ष्मी और भगवान कुबेर की पूजा की जाती है।
