🌙 What is Solah Somvar Vrat?
Solah Somvar Vrat (सोमवार व्रत) is a deeply revered fast observed on sixteen consecutive Mondays, dedicated to Lord Shiva, the ultimate symbol of marriage, devotion, and spiritual union. In Hindu belief, especially among traditional Baniya communities like Agarwal, Jain, Maheshwari, Khandelwal, and others, this vrat is considered highly auspicious for those seeking a suitable life partner, a happy married life, and divine blessings for family peace.
When to Take the Solah Somvar Vrat Sankalp?
According to Vedic astrology, the most auspicious time to begin the Solah Somvar Vrat is during the holy month of Shravan (Sawan), which is considered especially fruitful for the worship of Lord Shiva.
In the year 2025, Shravan month begins from July 11 and continues till August 9.
The first Shravan Monday (Sawan Somvar) falls on July 14, 2025, and is regarded as the most auspicious day to take the sankalp (vow) for starting the Solah Somvar Vrat.
From this day onward, devotees can observe a fast on 16 consecutive Mondays, offering prayers to Lord Bholenath (Shiva).
It is believed that by observing this vrat with devotion, Lord Shiva becomes quickly pleased and fulfills the wishes and desires of the devotee.
